Kirkland Museum is pleased to feature a retrospective of 50 highlights from Elizabeth Yanish Shwayder’s career. Shwayder has created hundreds of sculptures and executed a number of public art commissions in the Rocky Mountain region. Her sculptures have been shown widely in galleries in the United States, England and Italy.
In addition to creating artworks, she has been very active in the local art community, serving on the Mayor’s Committee on Cultural Affairs [now the Denver Commission on Cultural Affairs], the Denver Council on the Arts & Humanities [now Colorado Creative Industries] and the Board of Trustees of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. Her charitable work includes organizing multiple coat and book drives and teaching art to hundreds of Denver Public Schools’ students.
"Welded & Fabricated Poetry: The Artistic Life of Elizabeth Yanish Shwayder" is co-curated by Hugh Grant, Founding Director, and Christopher Herron, Deputy Curator.
