The Rocky Mountain Storytelling Conference, "Change the Story, Change the World", kicks off a weekend of story events at 7 pm on Friday, April 20th, with Stories in Concert, a laid-back evening of story headlined by Storytelling World Award Winner Lyn Ford. Lyn is a fourth-generation storyteller whose roots as an African-American from Appalachia*(Affrilachian) inform her “Home Fried Tales” and her work as storyteller, author, educator, mentor - and yoga laughter coach. She is joined by nationally acclaimed tellers Cooper Enos-Braun, Yvonne Healy, and Joan Janis, who all have their heart in Colorado. These four create an evening of entertainment that will appeal to everyone from the oldest grown-up to kids over ten.
The Concert, and all Conference events, will be held at the American Mountaineering Center in Golden, CO. For more information or to purchase tickets, go to rmstory.org. Tickers are $10 and are available also at the door.
On Saturday at 7 pm the weekend finishes with a Story Slam, a high-energy format of five-minute stories with tellers, whose names are drawn from a hat, competing for prizes and bragging rights. Tickets are $10.00 at rmstory.org or at the door.
The Saturday Conference, 8am-5:30 pm, will explore the power of story through a full day of workshops, classes, and storytelling, with something for everyone from the hesitant beginner to the professional storyteller. .
